I want to make a game.
I am experienced in making games.
I have always had good ideas for games and stories.
But now my head is empty.
I thought about making a top down RPG that plays inside a humans body, like the main character could be from the "police" aka. a white blood cell fighting evil bacteria.
But it sounds... boring.
Does Bernd have anything interesting in mind?
All I know is that I want to make it a top down RPG because that's what I am good at.

Make Apu 2

I'm making Heroes 3 rip off right now. Using pure functional approach.
TBS is actually pretty empty genre there are no good competitive TBS games.

>top down RPG that plays inside a humans body, like the main character could be from the "police" aka. a white blood cell fighting evil bacteria.
So you want to make Osmosis Jones the video game?

>>110972
Many years ago I thought about exactly that, made a quick prototype in RPG maker but realised that a meme game isn't something I want to use many months of my life for.
I also once made a Jump and Run game in Unity2D where you play as the PC Masterrace guy and have to kill as many consoles and peasants as possible while finishing a stage.
>>110974
There are big titles like fire emblem, no?
>>110975
I was thinking of an old french cartoon series for children that we used to watch in biology class - but yes.

>>110976
>There are big titles like fire emblem, no?
Not sure if it has a competitive scene, but overall it's more like advance wars, a short battle.
Heroes is something in the middle between grand strategy and turn based battle

>>110976
Do you remember the name of that cartoon? I have watched something similar when I was a kid but can't remember

>>110978
Holy shid the English opening is weird

>>110980
the best scene:

>>110981
seems like timestamps can't be posted here?
anyway, one of the bacteria that is getting gassed screams "oy vey gevalt!" and recently this scene was in the media because jews got triggered.

>>110971
I think the idea sounds pretty neat. The immune system is pretty fascinating, so if you feel like you're running out of ideas for content, just learn more about the human immune response.

What the hell is Scala? Is it good?

>>110987
Jvm based language with 1st class functions, its pretty ebin. Scala 3 is gonna be released soon and it is gonna be even better.

A ГПУ agent in the 20's is sent to Paris to find and eliminate a high ranking white guard war criminal. The game takes place in four to five streets of Paris, plays much like Disco Elysium but with that one mechanic that makes it feel different.

So OP what have you decided to do?
Also what language you using?

>>111095
German probably

>>111095
I will make my PCMR 2D platformer, I found a skilled artist who likes the idea and wants to help me and another guy with whom I make music sometimes will help me composing the background music.
I use Unity2D and C#.

>>111096
Splendid joke m8.

>not making shoot-em-up, the most bernd game imaginable
you're playing as a fighter jet pilot
there's a nes style intro, but more advanced (bigger resolution, like in indie games)
basically it shows some commieblock district with a distant field/commieblocks on the horizon, then shortly it shows the plane
the mission is simple just destroy targets lol
you're plane is modified MiG29, it is connected to the ground / point by the long, fat power coords, because it is main weapon is a powerful laser that can fire after some delay
the laser is connected to the ground point which is ether nuclear reactor (stationary) (then the power coords are longer) or it is a fast truck or railroad train / platform with an on-board reactor, (but it is probably less powerful)
the mig also can land on the ground and have tracks instead of its engine blocks, so it will be like a ground tank for a while, its kind of like a transformer except it doesn't really transform, it is just equipped with tracks (optional)
also large powercorded objects / vehicles is not a new idea, they exist IRL
this is from the rpg tech dome that i was making
the car might look 3d to you while it is technically 2d image

tech demo*
some physics demo (i need to make proper video and upload to libre.video)

>>111176
That's actually pretty cool

>>110976
ngl I would unironically like playing a game like this

>>110971
Just start small doing a few game mechanic exercises and making a few things work in a game engine you feel comfortable with. Once you get that out of the way, upgrade what you already worked on and base your story on it. As long as the main gameplay loop is fun and engaging, it shouldn't be too hard. There's dozens of solo indie game developers that have made games on their own that were really well liked. Picrel is a good example of it. Everyone loves that game.

>>110971
so what inspiration exactly are you looking for?
game mechnic or background story?

>>111246
I already got everything I need myself now, my head is full of ideas again. Seems like I have had a few bad days.

>>110971
I think some really cool art could be made for a game like that.

>>111248
Where will you distribute the game

>>111323
Most likely I will just make it freely available in the internet and post an advertisement trailer on YouTube.
However now that I got a skilled artist backing me up, the game might actually become a few levels better than anything I produced so far so maybe I can even put it in Steam or the Google playstore at some point, but that is still "future music", as we say it in German.

I started to lean how to makes games in UE4 and Unity.
But I realized that I am bad at art.
My new plan is to wait for the new Garry's Mod (S&box) which will give me a bunch of assets to work with. They make it so you can mod the game with C# instead of disgusting LUA.
There might even be a chance that someone will play my game if its available in the s&box server browser.
I want the game to be like a mix of Dungeon Defenders and Left4Dead with building like in Gmod.

this is from my sound gen rate
it can play more complex melodies too

>>111327
you can rewrite iichantra to C# (from (memetic) lua and c++)
it has tons of arts for free (and entire iichan as a source of free art)

>>111328
It's just a distorted sine wave?

>>111330
nah
two square waves (detuned)
it can has as many waves as possible, there's no distortion
it also supports envelopes (pitch, vol, and pan) and it can play patterns too in some form
it is written in vlang (vlang.io)

>>111331
I recently tried to create a Karaoke app that recognises if the player sings in the correct height with a Fourier Transform, but I failed at the visualistion of the songs.
I wanted to do it like in the traditional japanese karaoke boxes.

>>111333
frankly i did such a thing too (detecting base frequency with FFT for source signal)
but it wasn't for Karaoke, it was for signal demodulation or something like that, at the end you had EEG graph built from recorded sound, i did it relatively quick in python

>>111333
japanese really are basters, making so much money out of nothing (two lines of code, or maybe a 20c chip)

>>111335
Karaoke is great fun, at some point I will finish this project and have my own karaoke room at home.
Maybe I can even open a karaoke bar at some point in my life?
I'm a big karaoke fan and it is saddening that it basically doesn't exist in Germany.

>>111336
in my cunt (russia) it is popular, this karaoke bar shit used to be everywhere

melody example
this normally should be faster and high pitched
only square waves are supported by design, but also any frequency of the wave (specified in Hertz fraction (which is unusual, usually its "fine pitch"))
>>111338
can we have something cooler than just a note for audio files?

>>111338
Trials of mine to create retro game style music, don't know if I can call it a success.
Obviously used a DAW **lmms** though.

>>111340
like what?

>>111344
like some smaller icon that can be stolen somewhere or requested on /OC/

>>111343
typical bernd music
https://archive.org/details/jamendo-015514

>>111190
>Which one? APU rpg or the jump and run PCMR console peasant slayer?
The Apu quest one. It's an interesting concept. You can add more content to it if it becomes more popular. I think bernds and even normies would enjoy it

>>111360
And what about the PCMR platformer which I decided to remake?
It will have a tiny bit of story but the main part is the hack and slash platforming and a bossfight after each level to let the dirty console peasants know who is following the right religion.
