I'm scared of ending up in Brazil against my own will. I mean randomly waking up in Brazil, without any money or papers to get back home through the embassy.
Naturally, being a cold also dark Russia sufferer I would like to visit any foreign country, but not Brazil.
And India.
And that's it, any other place is cool.

Does anyone else feel this unexplainable disgust towards Brazil (and India)? Or any other country?

"The CDC does not have the authority to give me my freedom," one commenter offered. "You f***ing jackasses at CNN and the rest of you idiot liberal s**t heads need to learn ... the government doesn't give you freedom... God did."
"Little thing called the Bill of Rights says the CDC holds no authority over me," one user added. "You morons ought to take a glance at some of those amendments and articles from time to time to keep from looking so godawful stupid."
"Our freedoms — including assembly — do not come from the f***ing CDC, you ignorant buffoons," another user pointed out. "Go to hell, you wannabe Stalins."
"Since when is the CDC in charge of freedom?" another commenter asked.
"I can't fault the CDC for how CNN words its tweets, but it's alarming if a news organization believes an unelected government agency is in the business of 'giving ... freedoms,' limited or not," one commenter wrote.
"Last time we read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, we found nothing to suggest or even hint that our freedoms are granted by the U.S. government or any agency thereof," another user noted. "The CDC and its sycophants in the media might want to do a little remedial reading."
"Giving limited freedoms. Oh F off we should have all our freedoms back," another user declared. "I can't believe so many people were OK with all of this."
One commenter responded with the following: ""1. The CDC doesn't have authority to give/take freedom. 2. My freedom is inherent in my existence. Vaccines have nothing to do with it. 3. There's no role for the CDC to define rules which private citizens must follow. Authoritarian creep keeps on creeping, with CNN leading."
"This is unconstitutional on its face. My freedom is not granted by a government organization," another user wrote

Looking at the scale and first determining what sort of hand posture is crucial. Then I try to memorize the notes within the scale. After I play around with the scale to silly rhythms in my heda and sometimes ghastly music emerges. Other times silliness flops forward and very rarely does anything worth recording is found.

Yes I know that's pretty cringe but that's not the point. The point is that I am farther away from that dream than ever before. It's not even my dream anymore but it still sucks thinking about it.
It was never possible and even going abroad on a vacation seems difficult in the future.

Watching the recently out serpentza video on the state of toilets he's encountered in China (go watch it in full if you're interested; YouTube: 5bUH36GS9Fk I've only attached the opening) I was for some reason reminded of that famous (if I can call it that) Žižek skit on the hermeneutics of toilets: how the differences between how toiletbowls are shaped in the three European nations of France, Germany, and England, are for some reason perfectly tied to the differences in their philosophical and cultural output too. (If you haven't heard that; I've attached an illustrated video narrated by one of the versions of that skit. He repeats it often.)

So, what can we learn about Chinese society simply from looking at their toilets, in a žižekian way?
Personal thoughts: one might say that China is privately a deeply personally traumatised society, where a pretty public façade hides behind itself a state of utter decay. Such scenes perhaps remind one of cases of deeply troubled families in US, who have faked on social media how they live a perfect life, but behind closed doors they have been abusing their children for years.
But perhaps another way to look at this is: China is no-bullshit; any act that must be done (such as shitting) will be done and no effort will be done in the process to make it more palatable. Shame at one's state doesn't exist; we all cope by projecting that everyone else is disgusting too. After all, isn't this how China has been running its international propaganda recently – purely through being utterly shameless about the situation at home while pointing finger and laughing at everyone else?

Never lend someone a book. I had purchased a book on this exact topic of Jesus against the world and lend it to someone who probably will not read or return it, without me expressly pressing them on it, shaming myself.

Agreed.
I also learned my lessons when I once lent someone the first part of my Mirai Nikki Mangas that I bought many years ago because he was literally sucking my dick for help to learn Japanese, so I gave him something easy to practice reading.

I think there are more crucial things to think about than God. He is immutable, and the immutable is irrelevant. When instead of liberation it is used to control, it becomes actively hostile to human nature.

As for lending books, I loaned someone The Cyberiad, Penguin edition and purchased a new one which was from the last century and is probably worth more than I paid for it, so that's good. I also loaned Notes from Underground and it was not returned. Both times I stressed that I wanted them returned.

I also do not want to sour relations with people because of lost literature, however I do like to re-read texts for better understanding. I think that if in a few months he doesn't voluntarily return the book, I will just buy it again.

Why don't you re-purchase lost literature? If there is anything that I spend copious amounts of money on, it is books.

Also; if someone is pressing you really hard for you to loan them something, asking them for collateral isn't unheard of. One method is to swap books, where you take one book you really liked and they take a book they really liked and swap it and then discuss it. I haven't personally done this, but it seems reasonable to demand something of value for value of your own.

It's sad how friendships are overshadowed at once by material imbalances.
GermanyBernd2021-03-07 01:13:01 · 5yNo. 111560reply
Why do you think relationships will get worse if you ask for what belongs to you?
Ask until you get it, if they refuse they aren't worth to deal with anyway. Running away from a conflict is more shame than silently suffering and spending money for a replacement.

In my case, I moved to another city far away and the guy just blocked me in WhatsApp after I asked a second time but if I was still living near him I would have screamed in front of his house until he gave it back to me.

I have the trait or problem that if I see people who are motivated in what I like I have the urge to help them even if we are not friends or anything, your idea about asking for a deposit is interesting.

>Why don't you re-purchase lost literature?
To this one book I have memories, it was the first one in Japanese I ever bought.
I don't want to re-buy it.

I instead replaced it with the Russian version of it because that is the next language I will master. It looks weird but reminds me of never lending books to someone, and the time when I had troubles decoding the first page of slavrunes is also already more than a year ago so it's purpose and meaning for me is similar to the original one that I kept like a treasure when I was young.

As I said earlier, there's a massive difference difference between the type of mask you use. If you put your average mouthdiaper it will only protect from spit, not from any bacteria or virus particles.
99% of people are using useless masks that protect from nothing but spit. But hey if the illusion of safety is enough for you, fine, but don't come and try to restrict my freedom and human rights because of it.

That image is wrong. The round bit on the n95 mask isn't a filter, it's a valve so breath can go out. And the surgical mask doesn't protect the wearer, it protects others.

Both these masks will help prevent the spread of covid because they will stop liquid droplets from your mouth that are carrying covid from travelling.

Nope - even just homemade cloth masks were decently (over 50%) effective at not letting viruses through when tested - surgical masks and vacuum bags, ~90%
