Just finished the first and the second seasons of ==Log Horizon==.
First seasons was nice, second was nice, too. The ending is the shitties ending I ever saw.
I mean, I'm really disappointed how things turned out, however I understand that only this ending would have moved the plot forward.
God I hate that whore Kanami. She is the evil. I mean, she is the reason why everything goes to hell and actually causes all the suffering in the world.
And Shiroe was such a good fucking boy, dickhead dick! What a pussy, I can't believe that shit. You can't be such a pussy for real, it's just beyond pathetic. Fucking SIMPS.

Monogatari overall is a good anime. And not only because there are plenty of nice schoolgirls. But there are also plenty of nice schoolgirls. It's Dostoevsky stories in the world of anime.

I am 7 episodes into Log Horizon season 2.
Its pace dropped phenomenally and suddenly became a feminist critique or some shit.
Instead of Shiroe's plots there is only girlbosses fighting against le serial killer. I'll probably finish it either way, but i'm watching Oreimo first.

I read the intro to Akutagawa's Rashomon and 17 stories today and it turns out Japanese really can't into much other literature and by the time the Showa period arrived they full-scaled into anime and manga with before it I-fiction and proletarian literature being the norm with modernist lit pushed out.

What anime portrays women accurately?
Welcome to NHK; the women there aren't numerous but one is a vapid bitch with issues and the other is a vapid bitch with issues. That's more like it.
Even OREIMO falls flat on this front. Monogatari doesn't even come close.
Dostoevsky is far more realistic and down-to-earth. His characters don't always make the smart decision and the women aren't very intelligent, like real life.
Monogatari has a cast of 150 IQ supersex models prancing around in a chrome city. I hate it.

In the second season Shiroe has not so many plots to be shown. In the end he even fails the one he has.

How you understood that? Japs have noice post modern literature too, as plenty of good modern writers. By the way, Akutagawa was mostly mixing genres and subjects in his prose from different centuries. You're surrounded by grown up women, in the anime they are all pupils and that's really how relationships between pupils work. Well, if you're a handsome shy pervert cute boy I mean. Just like Dosto, Monogatari shows young women's mentality at it's best: pursue the most popular boy you can see around for attraction and experimentation. Also all women are whores — that's exactly what Dosto was saying in Crime and Punishment, showing the psychological side of women's whoreness.

You can read Russian or German literature and it will have something very poignant to say, whereas Japanese literature mostly is about Japan in its relations to a changing world.

Yeah, I've noticed that, too. Well, maybe it's a good thing that they didn't adopt post-modernism much from wect. After all, post-modernism is only a degenerate attempt to create something of nothing in the society that saw WW2 at its worst.
Sometimes it pleases me to read the old man vs society literature like Dazai in comparison to what wect or has to present.
By the way, have you tried Haruki Murakami or Ryū Murakami? They both moved forward Japanese literature a bit, not following the same exact wect footsteps.

Because you weren't that shy silly boy many girls were after in school. I'm just stating at depicting what exactly the anime was good. As most of males don't have such experience in their lives, I can agree that honestly don't understand the audience of the series as too few can really relate. But what has been done good has been done good.

And that's the best part, if you look from another perspective. The genre of the anime, if translated into literature genres, is magic realism. A little bit of absurd is also presented. Are you familiar with Eugène Ionesco? You can take almost any of his plays and notice that little thing with language: what people say are far more important than what people actually do. And they nullify their action with the words or wise versa — depends on how you would look at it. That resembles how plot decisions are nullified with relationships. Well, at this point it's already far too away from Dostoevsky as he wasn't in surrealism or absurd genres.
I mean, this series have so many sides it's unbelievable if you know what to notice.

Not yet. I am planning to. Japanese literature always feels refreshingly sober in comparison to Western literature. Could you explain what you enjoyed about it to me?

It feels like escapism. Shows like Monogatari with idealistic portrayals of relationships usually chip away at my soul. It might be that I try to better myself by constantly comparing my own sexuality to that which I see portrayed but at the same time it can inhibit me by showing me the greener grass.

Definitely. If you haven't picked up learning Japanese yet, i've heard that the language play by the light novel director is also next level. Monogatari series definitely seems like a modern classic which is why despite being very otaku it still is appreciated by a lot of normalfags. You'd think Shinobu or Hachikuji would put a barrier between them, but thankfully not.
I <3 the Monogatari series, but because it's so good, I hate it. Too much of a better non-existent world can be a negative thing.

It's new and uncommon in comparison with older/other Japanese literature, for example, Ryū Murakami's trilogy Ecstasy — Melancholia — Thanatos is basically Marquis de Sade of Japan, mais it's contemporary and with absence of moralité, also makes focus on inner parts of trisome relationships and on inner mind of each particular participant ==at the same time==. Very uncommon. And Haruki Murakami is just a good writer in magical realism style, which is also uncommon for Japan in the volumes of 1Q84, which is 1k pages long. If you are familiar with Yasunari Kawabata and his style to describe inner universes of people and nature around him, you can easily find that Haruki is contemporary Kawabata.

I've noticed that thing too. In the first chapters you clearly see how characters discuss their names and symbols which form them. I was curious about what they actually mean, too, as there was additional layer of meaning.

If you are busy, Dr. Stone season 2, Hataraku Saibou !! or Black and Yuru Camp would suffice.
Very digestible series that are infographic if anything. Good way to wind down and not get bogged in cliches.

Hellsing Ultimate Abridged is pretty funny to watch.
Watching it now and it's fantastic. Reminds monogatari, but has a little bit different drawing style. Main protagonists speaks so fast I have to pause play and read subtitles, doesn't matter in what language — sometimes a string of 15 words is displayed only for 2 seconds.
Overall it feels like Nekojiru-so on minimal settings, soaked in surrealism a little bit.
