Recently I've been thinking about getting a driver's license. Especially when I'm traveling in foreign countries, it could be handy. But whether it's really worth the hassle (doing a first aid course again, going to the eye doctor), driving in capital traffic, spending thousands of euros, mmh...

>how does the German driving test look like?
You meet with your instructor and an examiner at a parking lot. At the beginning the examiner will ask you one or two questions. I think in my case he asked me to show him which were the fog lights at the front of the car.
Then you drive around for like 30-45 minutes with your instructor next to you and the examiner in the back. The examiner tells you where to drive. In my case once he told me really late to turn left at a crossroads and I had to switch lanes in dense traffic. I think this was on purpose to put me under pressure.
You have to do a full break from 30 kmh once and at the end you have to parallel park somewhere and you have at most 5 moves or so to do it. That's it.
At least it was like this 10 years ago.
GermanyBernd2024-04-09 20:10:20 · 2yNo. 305040reply
If you get lucky the examiner skips some of this shit. For example my brother didn't have to do the full break
GermanyBernd2024-04-09 20:37:09 · 2yNo. 305045reply
The test isn't really difficult as long as you keep calm.
I think most people that have trouble with it just can't handle the nervousness. As a student you are used to do tests on paper but doing something that requires all your senses under pressure is an uncommon experience.

how was your day? what achievements do you have for this week?

i personally got a slightly better in anatomy, gained cash but still struggle to keep myself in hands everytime i want to rip someone's face off because of stress and overstimulation

i try my best to be mentally stable but i hate to admit how much i rambled in dms to poor german friend this week and how awful fingers and lips look like when you eat your skin in stressful period of time, it's embarrassing to cry over minor things because your nervous system got so fucked up so every minor thing becomes a tragedy, did you know your nerve cell recover really slow?

sometimes i wish I had a normal boring life of mentally stable person who works in office pays bills and lives in boringness and stability

not really, there's a lot of locals who spend the time on beach but it's hard to find relatively deserted place, Crimea is pretty safe in terms of shelling but if something explodes, then it is somewhere in the sea, but not on the beach definitely

so yeah people still visit beach but i don't like crowds lol

Tittle, i'm planning to bait criminals into attack me, i'll dress as a wealthy nerd to catch their attention and walk trought dangerous zones, i will be carrying a pepper gel in my right pocket and a fake gun in my animu backpack in case things get a bit serious
My plan is to call their attention with a damaged cellphone, act scared when they approach to me and as soon as they get close enought pull out the pepper gel and fill their lungs with the oleoresin capsicum
How do you see my plan bernd? Are there some holes to cover i'm not taking into account?

Under stress people do stupid shit. Unless one trains to handle those situations or calm as a cucumber by default he'll do stupid shit.
One also needs a solid situational awareness to measure up all the information needed to make decisions quick and act. In a situation you described many things to keep track (from the criminals, their behaviour, possible civilians, changes in surroundings, whatever). Unless one trains his situational awareness he'll fail in all that.
It might be hard to claim self-defense if things take a legal turn. Have to check your local laws what they say about self-defense.
Criminals might be under influence of substances, and might don't care if they get a bit pepper sprayed, or that you wave a gun.
Chances are if you pull out the gun, they might provoke you to the point where you have to use it and you can't.
Police shows up in the wrong time all the time, perhaps when you're waving your gun.
Back to preparedness:
To provoke confrontations, one needs to be fit. Situation might demand to pull on the rabbit shoes and run, and you have to run fast and for a long time. Situation might demand one has to wrestle the opponents. This also needs endurance (a drawn out brawl is very tiring), and muscles, to keep punching, kicking, grappling, or holding them down.
To fight a brawl, one needs to be practiced in it. And not just how to subdue opponents, but have to stand the hits and kicks one get. Injuries can occur, pain certainly will, and has to ignore them to keep fighting.
Has to know the area, the streets, the geography. Needs exit plan.
Once things start there is no going back, and things can go sideways in nine ways to Sunday very easily.
