Sometimes I wish there were documentaries about famous kc posters like grappa, so I could see how they look, how their everyday life is like and how they behave.
I think for now the only proper documentary on imageboard users would have to come from themselves. There's an active effort to make imageboards look like nests of potential school shooters while some agitators want to embrace this.
Add that with many boards actively hiding themselves, most users being deliberately unreachable and obtuse, and archives being split among countless sites that have a date limit. This leaves you with a subject that's less "ask some redditors" and more "research some derranged nomads that never learned to write".
I watched a documentary on hobo culture once, and it presented a gentrifying group that gradually lost its usual stomping grounds. Something like that could happen decades into the future.

AI doesn't necessarily mean self aware, rather it refers to a computer's ability to do tasks that we often associate with human intelligence. The name Artificial Intelligence implies just that -- a "fake" intelligence. The ambiguous thing here is how you define a machine being intelligent, and that's often where people start to think of being self aware.
There are a lot of different types of AI, (with the connect 4 AI being a low tier trash AI), and with some of the more advanced AI involving deep neural networks.
It would be hard to even know if an AI was self aware because AI generally attempts to mimic patterns and behavior. The real question would become is the AI actually self aware, or is it just mimicking behaviors associated with being self aware.

My friend sent me this a month ago and we had a weirdly long conversation about it. I feel like I've visited this house so many times growing up. Every miserable, southern or midwestern town has this exact house. These houses have Girls Gone Wild and Ancient Aliens DVD box sets, furniture boxes at odd angles to create "rooms", and of course total filth.

If you really care and want to quit, I strongly suggest getting Zyban (bupropion). It's in a generic form and very cheap with insurance (free) or without (~$9 for a month supply).
It's a low dose anti-depressant that's commonly used for smoking cessation. If you go to a doctor (or even just call a doctor's office) they will prescribe it to you without drama or even many questions if you say you want it for smoking cessation. You take generally take two tablets a day, but I would just take one in the morning and feel fine.
I had to quit smoking and since I tried cold turkey but couldn't hack it, I was prescribed this. You can smoke or drink but you feel nothing, and you have minor to no withdraws. Another positive is that it sort of reset my brain chemistry, and my often crippling anxiety and/or depressive episodes (maybe linked to nicotine and alcohol) melted away. I can drink now, but I'm much more moderate in my consumption and haven't relapsed back into the daily, heavy drinking I used to do. I've also lost a ton of weight and feel much better.
Two things to remember:
1.) When you first quit drinking, you'll notice that it's hard to sleep at first. Your body is just used to falling asleep with the aid of alcohol. Also when you quit drinking, you'll notice the quality of your sleep improves dramatically after a week.
2.) It used to take me about two or three hours to "wake up" every day. I was really sluggish in the morning. After Zyban my routine was basically normal.
