This is a crossroad of what kc should be.

Either we enforce a modicum of rules which will be seen as moderators abusing their powers.

Or we have the bare minimum of enforcement that will lead to scat threads, 8chan migration of pedothreads, and other (traps/gore/death videos etc).

I had a think, a silly thunk likely thought of before.
Imagine how enjoyable it'll be to terraform Antarctica with the varied species of trees, moss, lichens, critters and other specialty invertebrates we could toss in. It could be a man-made paradise! Or we could genetically engineer mutant trees and animals for the heck of it.

My first day was a mess. I hadn't received a text about what time I was scheduled to be picked up, so I went to bed early and awoke early just in case. I prepared my lunch, water for the day and refilled my vape and sat patiently outside my hostel awaiting my new supervisor.
My supervisor, a born and bred Maori of Northland, crushed my hand upon shaking it. Twenty three years he's been doing the same job, but he says he loves it and I couldn't find a fault with his effort in managing the crew.
So the ride to our bloc was a good hour and a bit because we had to pick up some islanders. The first coworker I met was a smiley Papua New Guinean and a Salomon Islander who could barely speak English but somehow has a Finnish accent. It's difficult to talk to these islanders due to how amusing they speak.
At the site we had to wait another half an hour because another crew was tasked with picking up the trees. A few curse words were muttered by my supervisor, a sports fanatic.
We begin planting, and it was easier than I anticipated. I bungled the initial few holes but quickly got the hang of it until we marched over the frost hardened ground. This was the challenging portion of the day because of the impossibility of finding a patch of soil to open. I spent a good ten minutes smacking a patch until I asked me supervisor to let me move on. He went to the patch of lipped dirt and began smacking his shovel away until he told me I won this round.
I follow up the hill, smacking away at the ground, hoping my feet will stop hurting and vexing myself about my urge to buy cheap gumboots. Having no sole really crafted a good pillar of pain running through both legs and my lower back. But I continued either way.
After running out of water I felt rather dumb not preparing more earlier.
And then my supervisor told me we have to leave early so I can get drug tested. Another brief interlude of shenanigans begins as he races down the mountain and speeds back to the city to make sure we get there in time. During the ride, my supervisor always responded with the most flat, stolid yeh. Anything I said was met with a flat yeh, but he soon showed emotion when he began discussing how he met his wife in a nightclub or how he got an underaged kid into a bar and escaped the cops from booting the kid out. Crazy bastard. What got me was the amount of tics this man had. He'd slam back into the seat at times and fly into these bouts of rage, screaming at the top of his lungs at the slow drivers ahead of us. "HURRY UP, YA DONKEY." "YOU FUCKING....SLOW CUNT!" "FUCKING CHRISTCHURCH WANKER!" "COME ON GREEN CAR, COME ON HURRY UP, COME ON GREENY" "YOU SLOW MOTHERFUCKER DON'T SLOW DOWN. WHY THE HELL ARE YOU BRAKING YOU TWAT!" And so forth but he's alright albeit a bit short fused.
When I was getting drug tested the lady got suspicious of me when I asked for water. No fucking sympathy. I told her I was dehydrated and she dismissed it as some ploy. When I returned the cup of brown urine, she said dear dog you are really dehydrated. Fugging hell, but I passed and get to work in the rain tomorrow. Oh and there was a huge cloud of smoke from a nearby burn off in pic three. It moved in super quickly and left a few hours later.

Yes I believe it was a western facing slope, which will remain frosted throughout the day during the winter in this area.

Pretty boring day except the first part of it. My maori supervisor was driving us into the bloc when we spotted a deer standing in the middle of the road. It ran towards the edge of the bloc but failed to make it over the barbed wire fencing. The Fijians darted towards it like animals and grabbed it to tie it up. Turns out a hunter grazed its heda with a bullet and failed to kill it, possibly explaining why it was so weak.
They tied up the poor young deer and left it rest all day beside a stack of trees. Upon returning to it, one of them who had aided in catching it, debated to release it. It touched me as he before was thinking about cutting its throat. He unraveled the leg ties but it refused to run away. So I told him its better to just eat it. He agreed, and his countrymen helped him lift it into the back of the ATV. I thought it was disrespectful how they tossed it into the back, and how one of them hit the animal as it bucked for freedom, but it was a good observation how Fijians treat their animals and food. It was a cool dynamic situation watching and feeling the group feel like a hunter gatherer tribe.

i just scrolled through like a hundred videos that came up when searching deaf couple and it seems like you have confused yourself. it seems to me like there is one bigger interracial couple, but it does not seem to be a more common phenomenon. i dont know why you do this. you see one example of a thing and then assume or brand all others as that. and then you ask why is it so? well its because its not actually so, and you just invented that in your mind. but that makes me wonder what is the motivation for you to want to invent this concept? i dont know. and i dont know why you felt it was necessary to create a thread about it.

I live with a bunch of Vanuatans and sometimes its difficult to read their intentions. They're really jolly people and constantly joking but sometimes they push food onto me, which makes me suspicious. When I was doing my washing the other night, a fat one came up to me and started babbling in broken English and then propositioned something to me that sounded like sex.
Very strange people.

Definitely not. Take your schizo pills.
I think the problem is me. Western culture is built upon exerting our power in friendships, as I've learned and grown to notice, where as these men build their friendship based on blood, culture and helping each other out for the sake of it. These tiny islands are the last happy islands untouched by the Western need to be economically productive, when for them a good life is having a house and land to feed your family and invite your friends over to eat and share kava.

I was going to ask, what's the difference, but then I remembered that during the course of the last century, Western culture has also shifted the meaning of "friendship" from "helping each other out" to "hanging out enjoying the same stuff".
Sad!

SloveniaBoard Speed TheoryBernd2021-06-08 21:26:51 · 5yNo. 115531reply
Not to cite anyone in particular, but you notice a lot that some people don't want to post on a board because it's dead, and the board is in turn dead because nobody posts on it. I find this effect interesting; and it's understandable: if there's no threads to engage with, there's not much of a reason to go to a board, no?

Well, then I asked myself; how would one model expected board speed? How does number of posters affect it? What's the correlation? Of course, posters have very different levels of postings individually: some are prolific, some are more prone to making new threads while others generally just reply – that's a lot of variables. But let's just assume that there's not much difference between bernds, and let's assume that, since bernd doesn't go outside and has a fucked up sleeping schedule, there's no real power hours at any time. (Yes, I'm being a physicist here.) What kind of function of N – number of posters on a board – is posting speed? How does bringing a new poster affect board speed?

So, if we assume that all bernds are equally likely to create a thread, and will reply with equal likelihood to what they read (not necessarily reply to everything, just to things they find interesting, or have something to say) – bringing a new bernd over will 1) increase the number of threads (since he is OP of some of them now) as well as 2) increase the number of replies in each thread.

But his threads and replies, in turn, also make it more likely for all other bernds to post something: in reply to his posts. So if everyone reads everything and replies to everyone (when applicable) – number of threads goes as N, but number of replies, and thus posting speed grows much faster, since there's not only more posters, but also more content to reply to! Is it N² – N threads times N bernds who might reply? No – each new reply also makes every other bernd more likely to reply!

It's an infinite series: if probability of a bernd to reply is p, and if N bernds create N OPs: then there will be N*pN first order replies (N threads, and each of N bernds has probability of p to reply); then there's N*pN*pN second order replies (replies to first order replies), and so on and so on: N + pN² + p²N³ + p³N⁴ + ... = N/(1-pN) (which obviously makes sense only if p<1/N)

This has an interesting consequence. While number of bernds is small – the denominator is practically 1, and board speed grows roughly linearly with number of bernds. But as number of bernds approaches critical value: Ň=1/p, the board speed should, in this model, suddenly start diverging towards infinity. (Clearly, this shows that model assumptions are broken.)

Well, we assumed that all bernds can read everything, and will reply to everything they feel like replying to: but, can bernd really produce infinite number of posts? Not really: as the number of bernds approaches this critical value, suddenly the board becomes fast enough that there's constantly new posts, and bernds can no longer reply to absolutely everything. At higher speeds, there's not even enough time to read everything bernd might be interested in. But, we have seen that there's a critical number Ň when a board ceases being slow. At that critical number, the board is suddenly fast enough that, no matter when you come, there's new posts being made.

The key to getting the board alive is, thus, increasing the number of bernds past this critical number Ň.
