This thread reminds me I worked with someone who was formerly a member of some strange sect of fundamentalist Mormonism and then converted to Baha'i. One of the strangest and most intelligent people I've ever met. He had an engineering degree yet preferred to work on a loading dock and read physics books. He also taught himself to read ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, and had advanced knowledge of Mayan history.

 

Before he retired he told me he was working on a religious book detailing the links between Baha'i and Mormonism and how they could and should be merged into one religion.

It's a double edged sword sharpening itself if we're to stop a fairly harmless virus while we're struggling in certain countries to double vaccinate the population.

As third world countries are incapable of handling the outbreak, this becomes a global issue if we're to reopen travel, business and trade routes. Yet we're happy to allow governments to ramp up their own protective powers to prevent dissenters from a few who will never take the vaccine out of reasonable worries.

Tyranny can be beneficial but we're creating a new greater class divide against a heavily mismanaged and obviously endemic problem. We have to accept we can't sacrifice our liberties to calm our inflamed worries about how we've allowed our diets and sedentary approach to ruin our sickening genetic pools.
