Well, yeah, our system is anything but perfect, I'd never argue that it is.

 

What I don't understand is though, why some people seriously seem to believe that living under Putin or Xi Jingping is any better.

The most efficient system would be a dictatorship with an altruistic, intelligent dictator.

We don't have such dictators because they don't make it to the top of such a system but it would avoid the shitshow of governments that have to manipulate the population into voting for them.

Yeah, obviously a dictatorship with actually good dictators who will pass their position to equally as good successors is ideal.

But any AI is developed by humans. Which means it will inevitably have the human factor.

 

Democracy is at least somewhat adaptive, if the current government is shit it may be changed in a few cycles as the alternatives and ways to peacefully let them take over exist.

Any system can work fine if each position is filled with the best fitting person.

Problem is, selection to positions isn't based on aptitude. In our current system it's mostly based on egoism, ambition, social networking.

To make a system work optimally, a separate system of selection is needed, which sifts through the available human resource, and not just by skill, but moral disposition too (some position needs less altruistic people than others). Problem is there are people who would temper this system of selection, and take advantage of it.

Also the Soviets thought they can create, bring up the proper socialist human type. This was absolute nonsense. Mustn't have to fall into this trap.
