i very much believe in these self-help audiobooks. i once saved some incel's life and then one day he just told me about this book he had found. i stumbled over the audiobook version of the book (danks to torrents) and listened to it just for fun.

this was when i was 20 and obviously school is meant to turn children into slaves by depressing them on purpose. while i was still full of the energy of youth this was nice to hear something optimistic for once. this optimistic attitude is so much more important then the actual knowledge conveyed directly in the book.

when i was young this gave me hope. when i got older my problems with the body of knowledge started because it is so uncritical towards the effects a monetary system has on groups of humans. in the book capitalism isn't even treated as something disgusting or a problem or the malevolent shackles holding back humanity.

it does however convey this radical self-belief and the conviction to change things for the better through hard work, which sometimes capitalism pretends to be based on or represent. merely a few saints are behaving fairly while so many are just dirty people looking to get ahead through dirty tricks. ' through all means necessary'. this mindset of capitalism and competition is so flawed because it rewards unfairness. i've heard these bitches try to rationalize their sinful ways. they say life's a bitch anyways so they can be an asshole too.

another problem i have is that being rich is not better then being poor. in a sense this being rich is hard work for a lesser quality life in more luxurious surroundings.

i listened to audiobooks like that on my mp3 player while riding bike. i would have loved for easy drag and drop mp3s on the phone and listen to them but phones were not there yet.

most of the young guys around me would be playing world of warcraft at that point in time.

i listened to many audiobooks and many are garbage but there are a few absolute gems that were so much better then the others and enduring the shitty ones to find those gems was worth it.

listening to such a book is having the privilege of hearing the perspective of a dude who used his time to become wise and worked on himself hard. for someone who would like to understand this world to make better choices, this is valuable education. just hearing someone extremely smart talk and through listening to the words understand how big of a scope that person thinks in or in what incredible long terms that person thinks.

i was lucky to find out about this, i do think it has enriched my life.
