go out, find local events
when you show up there without company you will be approached by a hot girl and you'll have drinks with her then after 3hrs you get invited to her flat
worked for me brah (true story)

What's even the point of Discord?
I got it and even got invited to some more seclusive stuff next to some interests I have, but for what?
How do I even start there when people are talking and I am new?
I literally don't get human interaction anymore.

One day in 2016 I was invited to some server by a romanian gril learning german I met in a game of league of legends.
It was an international server with ~30 active people, from Scandinavia all the way down to North Africa and Kuwait. It is where I met Kuwait Bernd who showed me KC /int/. Earlier in life I only visited /b/ for 5 mins so far and had never opened KC again.

The people there almost all had issues irl so they spent all their freetime on this server talking and they became like a family.
I also spent a lot of time there because it was the time in my life when I was a little depressive.
Eventually I'd inherit the server because our swedish polish immirat admin was LARPing as a soldier and told women lies about his missions in Myanmar and even told everyone how he got shot but a rl friend of him joined the server and told them what I already knew - that he is LARPing, and thus the users became mad/butthurt and the admin ran away, giving me perms.

Eventually I'd go to Sweden for a week to meet some guys from my server in Helsingborg and it was great fun. I also randomly encountered a french member in Paris when I visited my uncle there. (pic4)
I used to get bullied in school for being weird and having shitty eyesight but during my time on the server I relearned how to communicate with people and even how to lead a group. Having to be the "alpha male" of a group where nobody will really start to play games without me gathering all the people gave me a lot of self confidence and social skills.
Eventually I even met my first gf on this server (it's not the weirdo from pic3 lmao).

All in all a lot of funny shit happened but since my depression and lack of self confidence is mostly cured, I almost never start Discord anymore to spend an evening there.

If I can give you a hint for a good time in Discord:
-> keep joining servers until you find one where people welcome you and aren't underage
-> remember that you have to do the first step to join a group of people who already know each other but usually it's only ugly minors who ignore messages of newcomers

Oh yeah, I also coded a meme and management bot so when corona/homeoffice hit my company I was able to instantly create a temporary time management bot for Discord which really helped my boss out and since then he likes me so much that I pretty much can do whatever I want at work and nothing bad happens.

Now 50% of the time at work I just read books and drink green tea.

Man, that's like the one point in my life that keeps me from having a social life.
My question on how one does it was of a very literal nature.
Do I just burst in "Henlo there, how are you, what'cha talkin' 'bout?" or is there some etiquette in which I drop a greeting and then wait until I am able to bring myself into a going conversation with additional input?
I watched some discords move in front of my eyes for some time, but I could never find a moment that wouldn't make me feel awkward or cringe to the core to suddenly burst in somehow...

Just comment on anything they are talking about, if they don't react they aren't worth you posting there anyway.
Trust me, the way people treat newcomers really is a good indicator for the quality of a discord chat.

This is valuable info, also makes a lot of sense.
Guess I'm going to try it once again on some evening, maybe get a bottle of wine going as a treat to make me more sociable :3

None as you need to sign up to discord using your phone number.

Maybe! But how to not be lonely?
You need to relate to people around you. Or feel like you belong.
