hallo /OUT/ What waterfilters do you use and why? I have a grayl and love it, but I wanted to see what someone else might be using

I have been using a chink one with a hand pump for a couple of years. But the pump adds unnecessary weigh and it is very hard to use outdoors with only two hands. So I upgraded to a katadyn be free at the end of last year that I still haven't used. Yours looks too bulky and heavy for my liking.

None, local tap water is fine by me
Germany Bernd 2023-05-10 23:25:16 ⋅ 1y No. 269901
>>269893 True, its a little bulky but i like the fact its not glaringly obvious its a water filter, and the heavy construction makes it feel like something you can trust, but yes, you loose that pack-ability
Germany Bernd 2023-05-11 13:59:55 ⋅ 1y No. 269973
>>269901 Since these filters don't protect from chemicals I typically only drink from sources that are so close to their spring that I most likely could drink the water unfiltered. That's why flimsy ones are enough for me. Heavy construction won't improve the filter quality.

>>269973 The Grayl has pretty impressive filter and purifying claims. Where i live has lots of farming so lots of nitrogen run off and i haven't gotten ill yet while using it here and away, but yes its always best to try to find a spring >>269975 >>269899 Yea this is fine if you live in yurope and have good tap water, but if you travel for work and stuff local tap water can be pretty bad
Slovenia Bernd 2023-05-11 17:24:56 ⋅ 1y No. 269988
drinking water is bad for you, you know that? water is very hypotonic, it causes you to lose electrolytes you should ideally drink liquids which are close to the osmolarity of your blood >>269987 drink beer, problems werent
Estonia Bernd 2023-05-11 17:34:35 ⋅ 1y No. 269990
>>269988 based! beer is the problem solva. I recently got this one way valve insert for it so can put sashes of salt and sugar in it, very good for when in hot countries with crap infrastructure
